An Apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document for use in a foreign country that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. The apostille simplifies the process of verifying the legality of a document in another country. These documents include, but are not limited to: marriage certificates, birth certificates, death certificates, diplomas, school transcripts, contracts and more.
3What if I don't have acceptable identification?
When a person lacks acceptable identification, the notary may use an alternative method known as CREDIBLE WITNESSES to verify the identity of the individual. The credible witness must have personal knowledge of the person seeking notarization and provide their own identifications as well and can not have any financial interest in the document being signed.
4What if signer cannot sign his/her name?
When a person is unable to sign for his/herself due to physical limitations, there is a method called "signature by mark". The signer makes an "X" on the signature line of the document and should be witnessed by two persons other than the Notary. One witness will print signer's name next to mark and both witnesses will sign their names on the document as witness to the mark.
